    Professor Handbook

Please note: As we are currently in a more free-form period on BTW, there is no strict timeline for lessons at this moment. Updates on the timeline of lessons will be provided as needed. Thank you for your flexibility.

As a professor, you are the heart of Hogwarts. We appreciate your commitment to the students and the success of BTW, and have just a few points to get you on your way.

    • In accepting a position at Hogwarts, you will now gain access to the Professor's Corner forum. This is where all communication between the Admins and Hogwarts Professors will be located. If you have any questions that you feel other users may have, regarding classes, house points, or anything else, feel free to post here.

    • This site will move on a timeline of 4 months Real Life = 1 Year In Game. There will be three Lessons throughout the school year, each lasting one month in Real Life, with the last month counting for the summer break. As a professor, this means you are responsible for three rounds of lessons per school year.

    • While your character may be of any age past graduation, please understand that with age comes experience. A new professor just out of school would not automatically be able to cast all spells they struggled with in school themselves. While they would certainly decide to teach their most proficient subject, simply understand that they are still a budding witch/wizard.

    • The way you conduct your classes is entirely up to you, from the layout of the lesson to the spells you wish to cover. For whichever subject you teach, you may decide to offer one lesson each round for all years (1-7), or separate classes for each year. Also, you may decide to have a more lecture based lesson, or an interactive one. The sky is the limit, and we encourage your creativity.

    • With the lessons starting at the beginning of each month (minus the summer break), we ask that your class post be up and available within the first week. This will allow for your students to attend, and for you to have more time with the actual lesson.

    • Subsequently, we ask that lessons be closed up by the end of each month. If they are not, an Admin will close them for you, and award a blanket amount of house points. We do ask, if possible, that you reach out to an Admin if you will not be able to close your class.

    • As far as house points, we ask that you award no more than 100 points per student per school year. However you wish to award them is up to you. You may take into consideration things like attendance, participation, correct answers, or any number of aspects of your lesson. When closing up your post for the lesson, we ask that you submit your house points for that lesson to the Professor's Corner. There will be an available post for each lesson.
